The deficit of water in the soil, causing vegetation water stress, is an important factor that negatively affects crop production. So, determining water stress, and appropriate irrigation scheduling are simultaneously important according to the crop’s nature to water stress at different growth stages. Irrigation scheduling is efficiently required to maximize the crop yield and decrease the waster loss amount with the aid of deep percolation and runoff, pumping costs, and enhancing water use effectively.

There are four main parts we should know if we are looking for better irrigation schedule management soil texture, soil type, water holding capacity, and crop water use at a particular development stage. For example, canola can utilize 7mm/day during pod fill, however, 2mm/day should only be used during the rosette stage.

A few numbers of conventional methods of irrigation scheduling have been approached for better irrigation practices. However, these techniques are very time consuming, and expensive. These techniques are also not suitable for larger areas and need more manpower.

Instead of them, remote sensing plays an exceptional tool to provide the spatial information in irrigation practices along with the multi-temporal satellite data which gives the reliable, accurate and low-cost data.

We, at Satyukt have developed a cutting edge technology which is the combination of potential evapotranspiration, satellite retrieval soil moisture data, weather forecast data, and rainfall data in order to offer the irrigation advisory at a farm scale level, and insight into how much water crop needs to grow without water stress.

The following services we are proving to the farmers are:

  • Provide insights to optimize water usage
  • Reduces waterlogging
  • Reduces over usage of water resources
  • Detection of effective water management practices
  • Detect faulty irrigation system
  • Boost up crop yield and water-saving policies
  • Help to estimate the water demands of the crop
  • Help to determine whether to irrigate or not
  • Determine agricultural water consumption
  • Assessing drought conditions
  • Time series analysis helps to take decisions when to irrigate and can reduce irrigation costs.

Avail these services with “Sat2Farm” mobile application.
